Swansea City AFC Swansea.com Stadium
Swansea City AFC Swansea.com Stadium
The first Swansea football team had been formed in 1872, as a winter activity for the town’s cricket players. This did not last long, and in 1874 the cricket lads switched to rugby and the All Whites – Swansea RFC was born. Their home, St.Helen’s was host to an international soccer match between Wales and Ireland in 1874, with a crowd of 10,000. The founding of the Football  League in 1888 began the process of professionalising the game in the UK, but it was 20 years or so before the professional game came to South Wales There was some football at the Vetch Field in the 1890s, when a Swansea FC team formed at the YMCA played there. It was an open space with a cycle track around the edge. Various teams played in the local leagues with Swansea somewhere in their names, including an earlier Swansea Town and Swansea Villa. Notable exhibition friendlies were played, including one against Derby County in the 1897-8 season.

The Beehive
4Welcome to The Beehive St Albans.  We are delighted to be able to welcome you back again, both now indoors and in the garden. We will be operating rule of 6 or two households indoors as per the current guidance. During this next phase of pub re-opening we hope you will be as supportive and understanding as you can and help our team keep everyone safe. All food and drink will be by table service only and it will be quicker and easier for you if you place your orders via Zapaygo and let us look after the rest. If you need any help with using the app then just ask us and we will of course help. Its really important that you don't come to the bar, don't move your tables around or table hop and stay within your group of upto 6 or within two families indoors. Our opening times have changed so please keep up to date via our social media and website. We encourage you to book tables as far in advance as you can to avoid disappointment. Our kitchen is open and offering a new menu although the old favourites are there as well. Our new pop up, Ramen Electra, which started as a takeaway during lockdown has proved really popular so as well as continuing the takeaway on Monday nights we will now have the Ramen menu in house on Tuesday nights offering the favourite Ramen bowls, Katsu curries, Katsu burger and side dishes. So thanks for your understanding, we look forward to seeing you but please ensure you do your bit to help us.
